Meanwhile, At Drumwaster's Rants

Regarding happenings at the great Drumwaster's blog.

I don’t publish here very often

But I think the wider I can disseminate this news, the more entries I will get…

This is your official notification of the new trivia contest. I expect it to start this next Monday (the 23rd) and end on Monday the 30th.

The usual fare, twenty questions, 1st/2nd/3rd places win $125, $75 and $50, respectively. No final equation this time, but some tricky questions.

Tick, tick, tick…....

Assessing Bush

One blogger’s post-mortem on the waning Bush Administration

John Cross over at Drumwaster’s Rants gives his heartfelt opinion about where we’ve been in the past 8 years and where we might be heading in the next 4:

But, to put it quite simply, he was a peace-time president that was thrust into a war that we were not prepared for.  He was a man that had an ability to make a decision and stick with it for his own reasons, be they accepted, popular, or not.  He had a clarity of motive that many found disturbing in ths current political climate.  And, in my opinion, he had the correct mindset to fight Islamofascism, if not the correct type of support.

Take a few minutes and go read the whole post.  It might not change your mind about the man, but I promise that it will make you think.

Do Not Let Obama Happen

Helping to spread around a great post

I assume that most VO readers are also frequent readers of our bigger brother, Drumwaster’s Rants.  If not, you’re missing out.  I want to take a moment to draw your attention to a fantastic post by The Most Gentlemanly Blogger on the Web, John Cross, that makes a defining case for why we need to back up McCain/Palin this year.  We can always criticize McCain to shreds after making sure that the leftist lightweight loses, right?

The proof of who he is resides in what he has done, not how he packages himself or in what he says.  That’s why I am asking those of you who are thinking of sitting this one out, or voting Libertarian, to vote for McCain.

That’s just a taste, please go read the whole thing:

Public Service Announcement

In case you haven’t seen it, I have put my own election predictions up for perusal.

But that isn’t all. I’m opening the field to all comers, and (just to make it interesting) I’m giving away $150 - $50 each to whoever comes closest to predicting the Electoral College outcome, the House split by party, and that of the Senate.

But you have to enter over at the Rants, so don’t waste time; the contest closes exactly one week before Election Day.

What is to Blame for the Mortgage Crisis?

It starts with the Community Reinvestment Act and rolls downhill right to Obama’s front door

Drumwaster wants to take this “viral”.  So say we all.

This video contains the most important facts that every likely-to-vote American should know when evaluating the meltdown.  You want to talk about “failed economic policies”, Barry?  Let’s do it:

Spread this video around, will you?

Evaluating the Obama and McCain Debate with Rick Warren

Drumwaster’s Rants

Obama was bound to squirm when abortion came up, given his absolutely cruel and inhuman stance on “Born Alive”.  Nevetheless, McCain made a delightful little screw-up too.  It’s no wonder he isn’t getting 100% of the evangelical vote.  Mr. Thompson, help us!

Man Gets Life for DUI

It might as well be life for buggery.

I caught this story and posted it over at the rants.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - A man with nine previous drunken driving convictions was sentenced to life in prison.

Kenneth Chris Oneal, 58, received the maximum sentence Thursday after jurors convicted him of driving while intoxicated-repetition, his 10th drunken-driving related offense.

The offense was a felony because he had at least two such convictions in the past, prosecutors said. He faced from 25 years to life in prison.

Sounds a little excessive doesn’t it? It was a jury trial, so anything is possible, but I think there was a little bit of bullshit injected into the man serving life for a DUI. MADD must be very proud of herself, but we are all now paying for a man to live and eat in jail for the rest of his life.

Drumwaster’s Rants

The Great Drumwaster is taking a break to find his Muse again.  I have been so occupied with the VO for the past couple of weeks that I have neglected my other duties as an Illustrious Author of the Rants.  Therefore, I will do my part to help pick up the slack.

Today, I wrote about Al-Qaeda’s pathetic attempts to justify their ridiculous hate-filled existence and save their reputation with the Muslim world.  The wages of sin is death, Mr. bin Laden, don’t you know?
