Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
The President and leading Democrats have raised the stakes in health care, apparently deciding to try to use the unconventional reconciliation process to pass a health care reform bill. While the Democrats do have a viable path to pass the bill, the hurdles are many, not only from their political opposition, but members of their own party and the challenges of the process itself. All the Sunday programs take on the health care issue, which, I’m sorry, is getting really stale for yours truly. You’ll see a lot of the standard talking points that have been repeated ad nauseam the past year. The rotating chair at ABC continues with a lackluster performance from Matthew Dowd. Hire Tapper already, ABC! Anyways, try to enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for March 7, 2010:
ABC News contributor Matthew Dowd was in the chair for this week’s ‘This Week’. His first guest was the Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, who was on the program to discuss the latest version of the pending health care legislation. Then, offering the opposition party’s perspective on the issue is the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell. Senator McConnel discusses not only health care, but Senator Bunning’s holdup of a spending bill and the Republican playbook going into an election year. Then, the ‘This Week’ Roundtable discusses the state of health care and the politics of the day, with Donna Brazile, Torie Clarke, Robert Reich and George Will.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was also the headline guest on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’, as she discusses the latest in the health care reform legislation and the likelihood of its passage with host David Gregory. Then, a Roundtable segment weighs in on health care, as well as the jobs bill and the electoral landscape for this fall. Joining the program are Senator Orrin Hatch, EJ Dionne, Former Representative Harold Ford Jr. and Rich Lowry.
“Washington’s Broken” is the theme of this week’s ‘Face the Nation’, which focuses first on the health care reform process and what it means for the ability of DC to get things done. Joining host Bob Scheiffer first are Senators Evan Bayh and Lindsey Graham. Then, Dan Balz and Jim VandeHei join the program to provide some more insider perspective.
‘Fox News Sunday’ takes a different tack than the other programs, as it is wont to do, as it features an interview with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who was in the news this week for his new book and announcing when he will make a decision on running for President in 2012 (anyone else find it funny that it’s “news” when a politician announces their intention to announce something?). Then, hos Chris Wallace shifts gears back to the health care reform issue, as he brings in two key Democratic members of the House of Representatives—Representatives John Adler and Jason Altmire. Finally, the Sunday Panel weighs in on health care and other issues, with Mara Liasson, Dana Perino, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
It’s no surprise that Thursday’s health care summit was the big topic of discussion for this week’s shows. All four feature one or more guests with a role to play in the summit and health care reform in general. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for February 28, 2010:
ABC ‘20/20’ anchor Elizabeth Vargas was in the chair on ‘This Week’, as ABC has yet to settle on a permanent host for its Sunday morning program. The headline interview for this week is with the Speaker of the House, Representative Nancy Pelosi. Vargas quizzed Speaker Pelosi on the Democratic agenda, particularly in the wake of this week’s health care summit, and what her strategy is to move forward. Notable also were the Speaker’s comments on the Tea Party movement, where she seemed to identify with what she sees as the anti-special interest aspect of the Tea Party message. Then, to provide some much-needed counter-perspective, Vargas brings in Senator Lamar Alexander to discuss the health care summit and Republican views on health care reform. Finally, the Sunday Roundtable weighs in on the week in politics—the health care summit, New York Governor Paterson’s resignation and more. Joining Vargas are Cokie Roberts, Sam Donaldson, Paul Krugman and George Will.
Senator John McCain was the headline guest for this week’s ‘Meet the Press’. After Senator McCain’s notable sparring with the President at this week’s health care summit, host David Gregory asks the Senator’s perspective on whether the summit was a success and what prospects for bipartisan reform are moving forward. Gregory also discusses with the Senator the state of the economy and the current political climate in Washington. Then, to provide perspective from the Administration, Gregory brings in White House Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DePearle, who discusses the President’s strategy to get health care reform done, and what areas of compromise might be found. Finally, a roundtable weighs in on health care and the other issues of the day, with Representatives Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Eric Cantor, Katty Kay and Ron Brownstein and Marc Morial.
“Irreconcilable Differences on Reconciliation” is the theme of this week’s ‘Face the Nation’. CBS host Bob Scheiffer sits down with four key legislators to hear their perspectives on this week’s health care summit and what will happen in that arena in the weeks to come. Joining Scheiffer is Representative Marsha Blackburn, Senator Tom Coburn, Senator Kent Conrad and Representative Steny Hoyer. Plus, Scheiffer talks about the latest natural disaster in Chile.
‘Fox News Sunday’ also focuses in on this week’s health care summit, and begins with a discussion with three key legislators. Joining host Chris Wallace for the first segment, a debate between Senators John Kyl and Robert Menendez. Then, in a one-on-one interview, Wallace brings in Representative Paul Ryan, widely regarded as one of the leading Republican voices on health care reform. Finally, the Sunday Panel talks about the health care summit, the President’s agenda and the rest of the political world, with Liz Cheney, Mara Liasson, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
There’s a lot to talk about this week. After an exciting CPAC conference, the anniversary of the stimulus bill, the new push for health care and the ever-present economic situation, there’s no dearth of issues for the Sunday shows to tackle. This week, we get a few interviews with some of our nation’s governors and the highlight on CBS, Ret. General Colin Powell, who offer some interesting outside-the-beltway perspective. Of course there’s the usual smattering of roundtables as well. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for February 21, 2010:
ABC ‘Nightline’ anchor Terry Moran takes the host slot for ‘This Week’, which covers the map of politics—the economy, the Obama health care summit—all from the view of two prominent governors. Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Moran gets some outside-the-beltway perspective on these issues and more on the two governors’ infrastructure agenda. Then, the Roundtable discusses the week in politics, featuring Donna Brazile, Ariana Huffington, Matthew Dowd and George Will.
National Security and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are the primary topics of this week’ ‘Meet the Press’. Host David Gregory features an exclusive interview with the commander of US Central Command, General David Petraeus. Then, with this past week’s CPAC convention and a seeming resurgence of conservatism, Gregory sits down with a leading voice in the Republican Party, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. Then, a roundtable consisting of Congressmen Mike Pence and Chris Van Hollen, the Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan and Washington Post Columnist EJ Dionne debate a full week in the world of politics.
On CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’. host Bob Scheiffer spends the entire program speaking with former Secretary of State, Retired General Colin Powell. As a seeming-elder statesman of American politics, Scheiffer discusses with Gen. Powell his views on national security, partisan politics and President Obama’s first year in office.
With the anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and a renewed push for health care, Chris Wallace, host of ‘Fox News Sunday’ first speaks with the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell. Then, with governors gathering in Washington for their annual conference, FNS gets some executive perspective on the current political environment with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. Then, the Sunday Panel has a full slate of issues to discuss as Mara Liasson, Stephen Hayes, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams join the program.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
The cold winter snow is on everyone’s minds this week, with the opening of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and in the wake of record snowfall on the eastern seaboard. But the political scene is as hot as ever, particularly in the national security arena. On this week’s Sunday lineup, the feature interview is with former Vice-President Dick Cheney, who appears on ABC’s ‘This Week’. Vice-President Biden shows up on two of the programs as well, making for an interesting duel across multiple television networks. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2010:
The rotation at ‘This Week’ continues, as ABC still has yet to decide on a replacement for former host George Stephanopoulos. This time, ABC Senior Congressional Correspondent Jonathan Karl hosts the program, which features an exclusive interview with former Vice-President Dick Cheney. Karl gives Cheney a platform to share his own views on the Obama Administration’s handling of terrorism and national security issues, and respond to critics that include current Vice-President Joseph Biden. Then, the ‘This Week’ Roundtable features Jane Mayer, Peter Beinhart, Paul Gigot and George Will.
NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ offers a direct counterpoint to ABC’s ‘This Week’ by featuring an interview with Vice-President Joseph Biden, who is on location in Vancouver for the Olympic Winter Games. In addition to addressing national security issues, Mr. Biden and host David Gregory discuss the economy, jobs and health care. Then, a political roundtable segment features Representative Aaron Schock, NBC’s Rachel Maddow, The New York Times’ David Brooks and Former Representative Harold Ford, Jr.
On CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’. host Bob Scheiffer interviews Vice-President Joseph Biden, who joins the program from Vancouver. Biden discusses the Administration’s handling of national security issues, health care and the economy.
‘Fox News Sunday’ also hones in on national security on this week’s episode by featuring an interview with the President’s National Security Advisor, Retired General Jim Jones. Wallace discusses the opinion article penned by John Brennan, the President’s chief counterterrorism adviser, the KSM trial and other important security issues. Then, to provide a counter-perspective, Senator Lindsey Graham, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee joins the program. Finally, the Sunday Panel weighs in on this and other issues, with Liz Cheney, Ceci Connolly, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
An uncertain economy, a changing political landscape and an important American tradition are the subjects of this week’s Sunday Programs. There’s a lot of interesting television, and particular kudos is due to CBS, who as this year’s Super Bowl broadcaster took the day off from politics to talk about the state of the game and the prominent role the Super Bowl plays in American culture. There’s also Fox News Sunday’s big interview with Sarah Palin. Love her or hate her, you’re sure to find something interesting there. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for February 7, 2010:
ABC Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper was the host of ‘This Week’, and sat down with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to discuss the state of the economy, including the US Government’s credit rating and prospects for a double-dip recession. Then, an extended Roundtable segment. Ruth Marcus, Peggy Noonan, Al Hunt, John Podesta and George Will debated the economy, prospects for bipartisanship and the tea party movement.
NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ featured a few exclusive interviews. First was Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan, who discussed the Administration’s counterterrorism policy and the Christmas Day bomber. Then, host David Gregory switched gears to the economy, as he sat down with two major influences on the economy of today, former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan. Then, what is to come for Democrats and Republicans as the balance of power shifts in Washington? Former White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers and former Chairman of the Republican National Committee Ed Gillespie offer their views on where politics is headed going into an election year.
As the Tiffany network hosts the Super Bowl today, ‘Face the Nation’ is all football. Host Bob Scheiffer joins us on location in Miami, and has a talk with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell about the state of the game, including safety and the possibility of a lockout. Then, CBS’ own gameday crew of Jim Nantz, Phil Sims and Shannon Sharpe talks about the dangers of the sport and the big game itself, including some of the stories behind the star players. Finally, Scheiffer weighs in with his final word on the Super Bowl and its place in our culture.
In a Sunday show first, Chris Wallace sits down with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, as she headlined the first tea party convention this weekend. Wallace asks Palin about her views on the Tea Party movement, the President’s first year in office and her own future. Then, the Sunday Panel weighs in on the current political landscape, and whether politics is getting in the way of the war on terror. Mara Liasson, Bill Kristol, Bill Sammon and Juan Williams are this week’s panel. Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
It was an exciting week in the world of politics, as the upset victory of Scott Brown and the Democrats’ loss of the crucial 60th Senate vote created major turmoil. The implications of this event were widespread, raising many questions. What is the path forward, if any, for health care reform? How will it affect the President’s broader agenda? What does it portend for the 2010 elections? The Sunday programs do a good job of exploring these questions from many angles. A newsmaking week like this makes for some great segments on your Sunday Morning Roundup for January 24, 2010:
ABC’s Nightline anchor Terry Moran was the host for ‘This Week’, which focused on the political developments leading up to the President’s State of the Union address. White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod was the lead guest, talking about the President’s agenda and message amidst political turmoil and faltering support for his policies. Then, Senators Jim DeMint and Robert Menendez square off over health care reform. Then, the Roundtable of Cokie Roberts, Sam Donaldson, Matthew Dowd and George Will discussed the political landscape in the wake of Scott Brown’s election to the Senate.
On NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’, host David Gregory explored the changing political landscape in two exclusive interviews. First, the President’s Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett joined the program to provide the Administration’s perspective. Then, Senate Majority Leaer Mitch McConnell offered his views as a key Republican leader. Then, Katty Kay, Peggy Noonan, EJ Dionne and NBC’s own Chuck Todd talk about the politics and issues of the day in a Roundtable segment.
On ‘Face the Nation’, host Bob Scheiffer sits down with Senator John McCain about a range of issues, including health care reform, national security, the Scott Brown victory and the Supreme Court ruling on corporate political speech. Then, Senator Dick Durbin provides a counter-perspective from a liberal point of view. Also, Nancy Cordes and Jan Crawford discussed the political stories of the day.
Chris Wallace is back for ‘Fox News Sunday’, discussing the fallout of Scott Brown’s upset victory in his race for the open Massachusetts Senate seat. First, exploring how it impacts the Obama Administration’s agenda is none other than White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs (hey, what happened to the Fox boycott?). Then, Wallace looks at the milestone Brown’s election on the road to the 2010 elections by speaking with Senator John Cornyn, Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, handicapping the many contentious races that are sure to come. Finally, the Sunday Panel of Mara Liasson, Brit Hume, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams talk about the issues of the day and the changing political landscape.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
I get annoyed on Sundays like this. On a good Sunday, one would see 3-1/2 hours of varied interviews, perspectives and topics on a host of important issues. That is not the case this week, as the lead guests were the same on all four Sunday programs. First, former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton host the shows for interviews at the White House. Then, also on all four programs, were discussions with Lt. General Ken Keen and USAID’s Rajiv Shah, two key leaders in the relief effort. Oh sure, there was a bit of discussion about the pending takeover of a sixth of our economy, and the miserable poll numbers of President Obama, but it was pretty much all Haiti this week. Try to enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for January 17, 2010:
As George Stephanopoulos moves to ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’, ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent Jake Tapper is the host of this week’s ‘This Week’. First was an interview with former Presidents George W. Bush and William Clinton at the White House, where the former Presidents discussed their efforts in bringing relief to Haiti. Then, ABC Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz joined Jake from Haiti to provide further details on the relief efforts. After that, Lt. General Ken Keen, the commander of what’s being called Operation Unified Response joins the program via satellite, along with USAID Chief Rajiv Shah in Washington. Finally, the Roundtable. Donna Brazile, Katrina vanden Heuvel, Tucker Carlson and George Will discuss the President’s job approval ratings, the special election in Massachusetts, Health Care and, of course, Haiti.
NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ duplicates much of the ABC program. First is an interview with former Presidents Bush and Clinton. Then, Lt. General Ken Keen and USAID Chief Rajiv Shah join the program. Both segments, of course, discuss the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti. Then, host David Gregory moderates a roundtable discussion with Karen Hughes, Mark Halperin, John Podesta and Bob Woodward, discussing the President’s first year in office and the crisis in Haiti.
On ‘Face the Nation’, former Presidents Bush and Clinton join host Bob Scheiffer to discuss the Haiti situation, followed once again by Lt. General Ken Keen and Rajiv Shah. Then, CBS News’ Jeff Glor, Dr. Jennifer Ashton and Byron Pitts provide perspective on the latest developments in the grief-stricken nation.
This week, Chris Wallace is on vacation, and is substituted for by Fox News’ Senior Political Analyst Brit Hume. ‘Fox News Sunday’ rounds out the Sunday programs with interviews with former President’s Bish and Clinton, and Lt. General Ken Keen and Rajiv Shah on the crisis in Haiti. Then, Senator Mitch McConnell joins the program to provide his perspective on the pending health care legislation. Finally, the Sunday Panel discusses the crisis in Haiti and other issues, featuring Nina Easton, Charles Krauthammer, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
Unlike the trend over the past few months, there’s a little bit of everything this week. The economy, terrorism, health care and the 2010 political landscape are all topics of discussion on the Sunday programs. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for January 10, 2010:
George Stephanopoulos is back as the host of ‘This Week’, where he begins by interviewing the White House’s Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Christina Romer. They discuss the latest jobless statistics, future prospects and the Administration’s economic policies. Then, George goes straight to the Roundtable. This week, Liz Cheney, Judy Woodruff, Al Hunt, Robert Reich and George will discuss the economy, health care, national security, the war in Afghanistan and the political environment in 2010.
NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ broadcasts from Los Angeles today. The program first focuses on the announcements of some Democratic politicians that they will not be seeking re-election, and what that bodes for the electoral picture in 2010. Joining host David Gregory are the Chairmen of the Democratic and Republican National Committees, Tim Kaine and Michael Steele (respectively). Then, an exclusive interview with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger about the challenges of managing the massive deficit of the world’s eighth-largest economy. Finally, Gregory hosts a conversation with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd, exploring the 2010 political landscape, the economy and national security.
On ‘Face the Nation’, host Bob Scheiffer sits down with Senator Dianne Feinstein and Representative Pete Hoekstra to discuss the Guantanamo detainees and the controversy over Senator Harry Reid’s remarks about President Obama. Then, CBS News’ Jan Crawford and the New York Times’ Peter Baker provide additional analysis on these issues.
On ‘Fox News Sunday’, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine and RNC Chairman Michael Steele join the program to talk about the 2010 political landscape in the wake of the announcements that Democratic Senators Dodd and Dorgan will not be seeking re-election. Then, Chris Wallace focuses in on the intelligence failures surrounding the failed Christmas Day terrorist attack, and is joined by Senators John Kyl and Jack Reed. Finally, the Sunday Panel dissects these and other important issues, featuring Mara Liasson, Brit Hume, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
Terrorism is the hot topic this week, as the President’s top adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, John Brennen, makes the rounds on three of the four Sunday programs. All the programs discussed questions about the nation’s national security policies and how they allows the attack to go down. CBS goes a different route by reviving its tradition of a year-end correspondent’s panel, but still drills into the security issues the other programs do. Enjoy your first Sunday Morning Roundup of the year, for January 3, 2010:
ABC’s Nightline Co-Anchor Terry Moran substituted for George Stephanopoulos for ‘This Week’, focusing on the intelligence failures associated with the failed terrorist attack on American flight 253. His first guest was Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan, the President’s top counterterrorism official. Brennan acknowledged that al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula is an active threat, while Moran asked about American security policy, the inability of the feds to connect the dots and the suicide bombing that killed seven CIA agents on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
Then, Senator Susan Collins, Congresswoman Jane Harmon, Congressman Pete Hoekstra, Senator Joseph Lieberman participate in a legislative panel discussion about al Qaeda in Yemen, the Christmas Day attack and federal policy related to terrorism. Finally, the Roundtable, consisting of Cynthia Tucker, Ron Brownstein, David Sanger and George Will talk about the Presidential situation, government failures that led to the failed attack and the Iranian nuclear threat.
On NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’, Deputy National Security Advisor John Brennan is also the top guest, as he discusses with host David Gregory how the American 253 attack might have been prevented, intelligence breakdowns and national security policy under President Obama. Then, two former heads of intelligence agencies discuss their perspective on today’s terrorism threats. The former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and the former Director of Central Intelligence, ret. General Michael Hayden join the program. Then, a review of the past decade with a panel consisting of Doris Kearns Goodwin, Tom Brokaw, David Brooks and EJ Dionne, which looks back on the politics of the 00s and forward to the challenges that lie ahead.
On ‘Face the Nation’, host Bob Scheiffer revives long standing tradition at CBS News by hosting a CBS Correspondents roundtable with Nancy Cordes, Jan Crawford, David Martin, Bob Orr and Chip Reid. CBS used to have an annual panel discussion around the Christmas-New Year holidays, but it fell off the radar. Now, the panel resumes the tradition by talking about new security threats, the President’s first year, the health care legislation and the nation’s economy.
On ‘Fox News Sunday’, John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, makes a rare Administration appearance on the program to discuss security policy, the failed terrorist attack and the policy failures that led to it. Then, Senator Kit Bond joins the program to provide another perspective on intelligence and security policy. Finally, the Sunday Panel, consisting of Nina Easton, Brit Hume, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams takes a look at these and other issues.

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
Merry Christmas to all of you! Despite the holiday, there was plenty to talk about this Sunday. The foiled terrorist attack on American Airlines flight 253, from Amsterdam to Detroit, was the primary subject for the Sunday shows, as the Homeland Security Secretary and White House Press Secretary make the rounds. Also, the status of health insurance reform legislation is another main topic. And as the final Sunday of 2009, many shows take a look at the last year and look ahead to 2010. Enjoy you Sunday Morning Roundup for December 27th, 2009:
On ‘This Week’, ABC News Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper filled in for George Stephanopolous (and did a bang-up job, if you ask me). First on the program was Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, who discussed the failed terrorist attack on Northwest flight 253. Jake Tapper asked pointed questions about the government’s response and preparation for the attack. Then, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs joined the program to follow up on the terrorist plot and discuss the progress of health insurance reform legislation.

Host David Gregory discusses the “Christmas scare in the skies,” with Secretary Napolitano. Then, that topic, health insurance reform and the first year in office with Secretary Gibbs. Then, a feature looking forward. “America: The Next Decade” looks at the economy, America’s world standing and political leadership for the decade to come with NBC Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick .
Guess what? On ‘This Week’: White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod. Senators Dick Durbin and Jon Kyl. On the Roundtable, Donna Brazile, Cokie Roberts, Sam Donaldson and George Will.
Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
UPDATED: There was a little more diversity out on the Sunday Programs this week, as there was a healthy mix between the economy, health care reform and Tiger Woods, though the latter thankfully is a side topic. The programs touch on the President’s proposed new jobs package, which sounds eerily like the first one this Administration passed earlier this year. The quickly-changing health care debate was also addressed, with questions over a public option and a last-minute addition which expands the Medicare program. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for December 13, 2009:
‘This Week’ focuses on the economy, as the headliners are White House Economic Adviser Lawrence Summers and Republican Congressman Eric Cantor provide competing perspectives on the state of the economy and the government’s policies. First, Mr. Summers defends the Administration’s programs and policies, and talks about its approach to health care and financial reform. Then, Congressman Cantor joins the program to offer views from the Republican camp on spending, job creation and health care policy. Finally, the ‘This Week’ Roundtable consists of Ariana Huffington, April Ryan, Ed Gillespie, John Podesta and George Will. In addition to discussing the topics covered in the two interviews, the Roundtable jumps into the Tiger Woods controversy.
This week’s “Meet the Press” also focuses in on the economy, as Dr. Christina Romer, the Chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers is the headline guest. Host David Gregory asks if this is a jobless recovery, and about the President’s new stimul..I mean “job’s package”. Then, a discussion that tackles the question: where are the jobs and what are the political and economic obstacles to a full and timely recovery? Governor Jennifer Granholm, CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer, Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney weigh in.
On ‘Face the Nation,’ host Bob Scheiffer takes the temperature of health care reform. Senators Lieberman, McConnell, Nelson and Rockefeller provide varying perspective on the prospects for getting a bill passed before Christmas, and what it might contain.
On Fox News Sunday, the economy is the main focus, as Senators Claire McCaskill and Judd Gregg join the program to talk about jobs and economic recovery. Then, host Chris Wallace hosts a debate on climate change, as Senators James Inhofe and Ed Markey square off on this controversial issue. Then the President and his acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize is one of many topics for the Sunday panel of Liz Cheney, Mara Liasson, Bill Kristol and Juan Williams.

With the President’s big policy speech last week, it’s all Afghanistan on the Sunday programs. It’s also all Clinton and Gates, as the Secretaries of State and Defense (respectively) make the rounds to discuss the ins and outs of the Administration’s war policy. Questions about the troop surge, withdrawal date, internal and international politics, cost and more are addressed. Enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for December 6, 2009:

Recap of This Week, Meet the Press, Face the Nation and Fox News Sunday
Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. Besides the pleasures of enjoying a feast in the company of loved ones, Thanksgiving means a nice long weekend away from work for many, particularly Federal employees. It’s nice when our government takes a little extra time off from finding ways to regulate and tax us to death. While this week’s Sunday shows had plenty of politics for those who can’t get enough, NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ takes a break too, and has two must-see interviews with Rick Warren and Bill and Melinda Gates. So before you settle back into the groove, enjoy your Sunday Morning Roundup for November 29, 2009:Su
On ‘This Week’, Senators Lindsey Graham and Bernie Sanders join the program to talk about the President’s pending announcement on troop strength in Afghanistan, as well as the broader conflict there. They and host George Stephanopoulos also talk about health care, specifically the public option and how the process will move forward in the Senate. Then we jump right into the roundtable, consisting this week of Cokie Roberts, Matthew Dowd, Paul Krugman, Dan Senor and George Will. The Roundtable talks about Afghanistan, the financial troubles of the Dubai state corporation, the economy, Climategate and, of course, the DC party crashers.
“Giving Thanks and Giving Back” is the theme of this week’s ‘Meet the Press’, as host David Gregory takes a break from the usual rough-and-tumble of politics to interview three people who’ve made thanksgiving a priority.
